All children dream. Poor children dream too. Many want to climb to their highest possible level, be successful, and give back to the world. They should not be held back by lack offunds. We are the Village and we can ensure they have equal opportunities.
That's the motivation for initiating the Just One Person awards celebration as the vehicle to raise funds for a scholarship program at the University of Ottawa for the children of the Children's Aid Societies. Just One Person allows the Sens Foundation and the Max Keeping Foundation to honour someone from the Village who has demonstrated the Power of One to make a difference in the life of the community.
This year Sal Iacono is, just one person, who quietly and with dignity has done that in dozens of ways for hundreds of families. Join us on November 8th at Scotiabank Place prior to the Ottawa Senators vs Washington Capitals game to honour Sal and to raise funds for the Just One Person scholarship fund at the University of Ottawa.
Through this event we hope to raise $30,000 which will be matched by the University of Ottawa and by the province. Combined with last year's achievement of $30,000 ($90,000 once matched), the endowment fund will reach its first peak of $180,000 and will allow the first scholarship to be awards for the 2008-09 academic year.
This will be a tremendous lift for those less fortunate children to help them in their climb to their highest possible heights.Follow Sal’s lead and participate in this amazing event! Participants will enjoy a pre-game dinner at Scotiabank Place and great seats for the game.
